A few new flowers have bloomed in the last week, so here we are again!

My one and only daffodil flower has arrived.  Isn't it beautiful?

Ha! I finally found the Australian Plant database that I used to have on my old computer. I had lost the link when it broke down.

The database is HUGE! I was browsing through it, looking for a picture of another plant, when by pure luck I found a picture of the "feathery" flower plant that I had posted last month.

Winter is here, though you'd never know it. We've had some cold mornings, but the days are sunny and it's still fairly warm. Today's maximum was 20C. (I wore a short sleeved top today, even outside.)

I remember commenting back in January, and again in March that the Melaleuca Leucodendron (paperbark) tree was flowering. I also commented that it usually flowers in May, and was wondering if it would still do so. It did.

The tree is covered with flowers, and consequently, with bees.

While Spring has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, with new grass growing, and flowers blooming, here in the Southern Hemisphere, the opposite is occurring.

I haven't posted any garden pictures for a while because there aren't enough flowers to take pictures of. The garden is exhausted after a hot, dry summer. I've even lost some plants to the ( Read more... )

A few weeks ago I posted some pictures of our paperbark tree.  At the time I was a bit surprised that it was flowering.  I mostly remember it flowering closer to May!  So when I went outside today, I was surprised again to see lots of bees flying around the tree.  That's when I realised the tree was covered in flowers again!

Time really flies!  One year ago today I was shocked to learn that I had lost my job.  Looking back, it was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.  I've had an interesting year.  As a temp, I worked at 13 different places over a total of 35 weeks, ending up permanently at the place I enjoyed working most!  You just never know!

It's mid July - tomorrow it will be 30 years since we moved into our home.  I won't say it seems like yesterday, but it still doesn't seem like 30 years!

Our unseasonal weather is continuing, with sunny days and blue skies (and cold nights). Lovely, but not normal.

So far this year:
